"“Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.” - C. S. Lewis"-From Miss K.'s blog
In that quote C.S. Lewis means that literature can make your life better. He also means that literature can enhance your perception of reality. It also provides food for thought.
The quote has helped me change my perception of the things they do in my new book The Three Musketeers. The quote relates to my book in that I feel like I'm in the book and I have absorbed knowledge from this wonderful book. I also look forward to going home and reading which i used to rarely do.

I agree. It definitely enhances your perception. Books, especially classics, use figurative language and stories to produce a perception of reality. In my previous book, Animal Farm, it took the story or a farm to enhance the readers perception of communist Russia.
